Head of Department, Department of Medical Oncology, Gustave Roussy – Université Paris-Saclay
Professor Laurence Albiges is Head of the Department of Medical Oncology at Gustave Roussy. Her main clinical and research focus is on the treatment of kidney cancer (RCC).
Recognized as an expert in the field, she participates in numerous research projects on this topic and has published more than 350 articles in peer-reviewed journals. Since 2023, she has been listed among Clarivate’s “Highly Cited Researchers.”
On the institutional level, she headed the Genitourinary (GU) Oncology Committee at Gustave Roussy from 2015 to 2021. After serving as deputy head of the Department of Medical Oncology for two years, notably during the pandemic, she was appointed head of the department in October 2021.
She is also an active member of the RCC guidelines panels for the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) and the European Association of Urology (EAU) from 2016 to 2024, and coordinated the ESMO Faculty in genitourinary pathology (excluding prostate) from 2020 to 2024.
A member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), she has received several awards for her research work. She sits on the board of directors of Unicancer’s Genito-Urinary Tumor Study Group (GETUG) as well as the Kidney Cancer Association (KCA).
She is currently the lead author of ESMO’s European RCC panel guidelines, on which she has served since 2018.
